The smart city concept is a vision for future urban development. Guided by this concept, municipalities in the Baltics and Germany have increasingly invested in developing and piloting smart solutions in different urban sectors. Drawing on this experience, a 1.5 year dialogue project was carried out between municipalities in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Germany, in which the challenges and best practices for climate friendly smart cities were jointly discussed.<\/p>\n

This concluding webinar will focus on the lessons learned from this dialogue project as well as core aspects of climate friendly smart city development. Three keynote speakers will highlight different aspects: Andrea Halmos (DG Connect) will discuss EU\u2019s digital and green agenda, Prof. Anna Kramer (KTH Stockholm) will present research results on the climate effects of smart city solutions and Prof. Anatolijs Borodi\u0146ecs (RTU Riga) will reflect on a case study from Riga on fourth generation district heating. In a concluding panel discussion, experts will debate ways forward for smart cities in the post Covid19-world.<\/p>\n
